- Network Job Scheduling/Workload Management
-
- The Scheduler is a complete job scheduling and workload management system for
- UNIX-based systems or networks. It is comprised of two basic subsystems: the
- Schedule Generator and the Scheduling Activity Monitor (SAM). The Schedule
- Generator produces daily and monthly computer schedules for all batch
- processing. Schedules are produced for any day or series of days; future
- schedules for critical month-end or year-end processing may be projected or
- reviewed at any time. Once a job/run is defined in the Master file, all future
- runs are automatically scheduled with no further input required. jobs are not
- overlooked; every job that should be scheduled on any given day is accounted
- for. The system will schedule jobs for any periodic frequency or randomly per
- user specification. Leap years, weekends, holidays - all factors are
- automatically considered. In addition, accurate operations documentation for
- report assembly/distribution is produced.
-
- SAM, the workload manager, automatically starts jobs for any UNIX-based
- processor on the network. All the analysis required to determine "which job
- should be started next" is completed by SAM and, when qualified, the job is
- started. SAM also monitors completion status (completed, appended, etc.) and
- reports any problems. Users may inquire about status of their jobs or schedule
- as required.
-
- The Scheduler is the key system for fully automated operations of stand-alone
- UNIX systems or networks.
